1. Trukers’ Strike in U.S. West Coast (미 서부해안 트럭커 파업 관련)

We have received attached propaganda today, 4/25/2014, showing the truckers in U.S. west coast(LA, Long Beach, Oakland, Etc) are going to strike on 4/28-29, dispute against unfair wage and welfare.
?It’s not the official terminal’s strike, therefore it is expected the impact will be less severe, but it is still unclear how many truckers will be participating in the strike and how this strike will impact on cargo flow.
Impex GLS is closely monitoring the progress of the strike and the possible impact and will share any news comes to our attention with you.

금일 첨부와 같이 4월 28, 29일 양일간 미서부 항만의 트럭커들이 낮은 임금과 복지혜택 등의 이유로 파업을 한다고 선언하며 다른 트럭커에도 동참을 요구하고 있습니다.
이는 선사 터미널의 공식 파업 선언이 아니기 때문에 그 영향력이 아주 심각하지는 않을 것으로 보이나,? 정확히 얼마나 많은 트럭커들이 파업에 동참할지,

2. Contract Renewal between ILWU and PMA (국제항운노조 계약 연장 관련)

As we previously advised, ILWU‘s (International Longshore and Warehouse Union) current six years labor contract is set to expire July 1st, 2014.
If the ILWU and PMA (Pacific Maritime Association) fail to sign a new contract before July 1st,
we may encounter slowdowns or strikes throughout the West Coast ports, all of which will delay imports and exports from moving in and out.
Hanjin shipping already announced that they will impose the following congestion charges in the event of the labor strike after May 28, 2014,
and there is high possibility that other carriers will do the same. (This charge shall not be applicable if strike does not happen.)

To mitigate possible loss from strike, we recommend our valued client to ship early and bring in your cargo before July 1st,
or consider the East Coast and Canadian routings. We’ll keep monitoring how the situation progresses and keep you updated on this issue.

이전 뉴스레터에서 말씀드렸듯이 국제항운노조(ILWU)와 태평양해사협회(PMA)의 6년 노동계약이 올 7월 1일 만료될 예정입니다.
만약 7월 1일 전에 국제항운노조와 태평양해사협회 간 합의가 이루어지지 않는다면, 서부 항만 파업/태업으로 인한 수출, 수입 화물에 지연이 예상되고 있습니다.
한진해운은 만약 서부 항만이 파업/태업을 할 경우, 5/28일 이후 항구혼잡료를 부과한다고 발표하였기 때문에 다른 선사 또한 항구 혼잡료를 부과할 가능성이 높아 보입니다.
(항구 파업/태업이 없을 경우엔 항구 혼잡료는 발생하지 않습니다.)
